Barbara Anderson Barbara, 1964.
Barbara, 2009???
Barbara lives with her husband, Ray Miner, in Atco, NJ, where Ray owns a carpet business. Barb is currently a Senior Tax Advisor 5 for H&R Block, but, for the last 45 years, she says that she has done "nothing too exciting."
Hmmmm..... let's see, what does Barb consider "not too exciting"? Well, she says that she has done various little things here and there, she helped Ray with his rug business, she and Ray like to ride their motorcycles, and, oh, yes! she was a stay-at-home mom. Say-at-home mom? I would not call raising 9 children "not too exciting" or being "just a stay-at-home mom"!!!
Ray, Barb, the 9 kids, and Mom
Barb and Ray still like to ride their motorcycles, but now they find themselves sharing their riding time with the 9 kids, 2 son-in-laws, 3 daughter-in-laws, 10 fabulous grandkids, and 1 sweet great-grand daughter.
Congratulations, Barb, on having successfully completed 45 years of doing "nothing too exciting"!

Barbara Popjoy Barbara receives the award for having lived the most exotic life style to date.
In 1968, Barbara moved to Hawaii to work for an NBC affiliate. After a year, she joined the Advertising and Sales Promotion Department of Liberty House, Hawaii's local department store chain, where she stayed for the next 32 years (until 2001). She loved what she did, got lots of promotions, and spent the final 12 years as Vice President of Marketing and Sales Promotion. However, as with most regional and local department stores, Liberty House fell on bad times in the late 1990s and went through a chapter 11 bankruptcy. In July 2001, shortly after Liberty House emerged from chapter 11, Macy's bought the store. Sadly, 400 employees, including Barbara, were let go. Barbara stayed on through the transition to November 2001, but, then, left for France at the end of the month.
And, why France, you ask? Well, while working for Liberty House, Barbara had produced a French Fair (in the days when department stores were still doing exciting things like that). She traveled to France several times in 1989-1990 in conjunction with the Fair. She worked with Alliance Francaise in Honolulu for interpreters for the Fair and, when all was finished, she ended up becoming a member, just for the heck of it. She did some volunteer work and helped it with fundraisers. During one of the immersion days, she met Fred Leto, her husband to be. The rest, as they say, is history (a very happy one, too!).
Barbara and Fred bought an 18th century house in the middle of the historic center of the village of St. Remy de Provence about 15-16 years ago and went for vacations 2-3 times a year. St. Remy is just the most delightful little village, situated on the Northern slopes of the Alpilles — the home of Nostradamus. Barbara and Fred married in St. Remy almost twelve years ago (1997).
Sooooo, when Macy's booted her out, Barbara decided that 55 was no time to start over. She and Fred had their house, Fred was finishing up his work, which he could do from anywhere (how did we ever survive before computers and e-mail!), and voila! there they are now, in the center of St. Remy, with their little dog (neither had any children) who made the trip with them from Hawaii, enjoying their lives in Provence.

Leslie Mason
Leslie and her husband, Walt Keys, live in Beverly, NJ. Leslie works for an accountant, mostly part-time, except for tax season, when her hours are expanded, and has no plans to retire. She works close to home and is very happy with her job.
Walt was forced to retire at age 50, but has continued to work almost continuously since then. His company outsourced his job and he is now working for an outside company doing work for his former employer. He was lucky to get his pension with no penalty and medical coverage. He is now making more than when he worked for his former employer!
Leslie is proud to announce that she is a cancer survivor. She just passed the 5-year milestone.
Congratulations, Leslie!
